There is a captivating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the border from neighboring Thailand, where casino gaming is against the law. Eight gambling halls are established in a generally tiny area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect destination, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing income accrued from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of limitations constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; however, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and even though visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to cross, there are ways around this, as is correct of many borders.

The original Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary bateau gambling hall, features 150 one armed bandits and sixty table games. The Naga river boat never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of 150 slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slots and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 96 table games, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the normal table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around resort and hotel complex that highlights many comforts on top of the gambling den, which contains ten thousand square feet of 130 one armed bandits and eighty eight table games.
